On its journey of upgrading and enhancing the experience of its guests, Midgard Country Estate – part of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Leisure portfolio – has started with renovations on 15 January this year.

The town of Swakopmund is beyond time, as if it has slipped in between the centuries like a joker in a pack of cards. With its old German flavour and extreme desert location, it is a charming anomaly.

Tourism is everyone’s business, and Namibia’s tourism family once again demonstrated commitment, passion and team-work aimed at advancing Namibia as destination of choice globally. As has become tradition, the Hospitality Association of Namibia hosts an annual tourism awards gala to help honour and celebrate the top performers in the industry.

The Minister of Agriculture, Water & Forestry (MAWF), John Mutorwa visited the Teufelsbach farm on Wednesday, 10 August, on invitation of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group’s subsidiaries, Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) and Organic Energy Solutions. The Minister was officially introduced to O&L Energy’s latest innovation that converts invader bush to energy.

Namibia has an abundance of sand, so what better way to utilize it than creating our own version of snowboarding? A few enterprising winter sport enthusiasts realized that it was possible to sled down the sand dunes on thin wooden boards. Sand boarding quickly became a national pastime, and a few years after this discovery someone got the idea that you could strap a snowboard to your feet and go “dune boarding.”

Strand Hotel Swakopmund is situated along the Namibian coast, making it the ideal base from which to explore the surroundings. Not too far from Swakopmund you will find Sandwich Harbour, one of Namibia’s wetland wonders and top birding destinations.

The private sector has teamed up with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism in a project which is aimed at saving Namibia’s rhino population.

Most of us have heard of the “Big Five”, which include the lion, buffalo, leopard, rhinoceros and elephant, but have you ever heard of the “Lagoon Five”? The Lagoon Five refers to the Big Five of the Namibian coast, which includes some less popular,but by no means less spectacular, animals.
