Charly’s Desert Tours – with over 40 years experience, the oldest tour-operating enterprise at the coast – was recently taken over by James and Moena Tromp.

The Tromps are no strangers in the tourism sector, having previously owned Desert Explorers and the Stay@Swakop Guesthouse.

Old Charly’s fans will be happy to know that “We still use our specialist German guides, who have been known to Charly’s for the past 25 years, and some of the popular old Land Rovers are still driving our guests to see the welwitschias and scenic Moon Valley!”

New adventure seekers will be pleased with the newly introduced Charly’s Living Desert Tour, while a daily shuttle to Cape Cross has also been launched. Found by legendary ‘desert fox’, Charly Gürtel, the company came into being in 1966.
