Naankuse is starting yet another innovative initiative project to support their conservation initiatives and their work with the San.

According to Dr Rudie van Vuuren, Managing Director of Naankuse the Naankuse Ancient San Skills Academy is the first project of its kind on the new Omaanda Ombidi Reserve that Naankuse is part of.

Naankuse in conjunction with the Nyae Nyae Development Foundation and the Nyae Nyae Conservancy hopes that the Academy will function as a reciprocal training facility. The Naankuse  Foundation will be raising funds in future to make scholarships available to San people who are interested in hospitality training opportunities at Naankuse. Rhona Strauss of Naankuse’s Taste Academy will be supervising these scholarships.

“On the flip side of the coin” ̧ says Marlice van Vuuren, Director and Founder of Naankuse  “we hope that the visiting groups from the Nyae Nyae will be able to bring across their rich cultural heritage to the San living on Naankuse”

“The Academy will also financially support our conservation efforts on the Omaanda Ombidi Reserve,” says van Vuuren.
