Nibby, the dancing face of Namibian tourism, showing off his moves ...

The streets of Windhoek are buzzing – for today and tomorrow – Windhoeker’s will come face to face with fluffy (and Dancing!) elephant twins, friendly and chatty tourism officers, 100-year-old fire trucks and a whole lot of music.

If you are keen to find out which hidden gems are located in and around the Khomas region – or want to discover Namibia’s world-famous parks with a discount – or dance on the streets today or tomorrow – or plan your next road trip (will it be to the north, south, west, east in your home country?) then don’t miss out on NTB’s 2014 local roadshow.

Join the Namibia Tourism Board (NTB), City of Windhoek (COW) and Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) on their “Local tourism is Nawa” campaign at various venues throughout Windhoek during the next two days OR join the campaign on the road throughout Namibia in the coming weeks.

Maggy Mbako , NTB spokesperson, today explained that the roadshow offers local Namibian’s the chance to find out more about domestic tourism opportunities. As one of the roadshow members noted: “We want Namibians to be tourists in their own country”.

Mbako explained that the roadshow is a way to engage directly with Namibians from all walks of life, and to offer them the opportunity to find out more about local tourism.

The NTB has reached out to all local authorities within the regions, who have joined them in this campaign … an opportunity to share the hidden “tourism” gems many Namibians are not aware of.

The roadshow is taking place with the help of NBC national radio – whose DJ’s are making sure that the campaign takes place against a background of toe-tapping, hip swinging tunes and that all Namibians can hear the important message: Tourism is everybody’s business.

BEST of all: Meet Nibby (and his twin), an elephant mascot who can not only dance, but who is making sure that Namibian’s become acquainted with the NTB logo – a logo that is inspiring the world to come to Namibia – and now, Namibia, to get to know itself better.
