The two types of baskets illustrated have been designed and made by rural women in northern Namibia. The Omba Arts Trust is a registered Fair Trade Organisation that has been committed to helping women earn an income for 20 years, enabling them to care for their families. The Khwe collecting basket with the handle was recently revived by Mashi Crafts in Eastern Caprivi, saving it from near extinction. In accordance with the Fair Trade agreement, producers can sell to whomever they please.

Visit the Omba Arts Trust shop to view the unique selection of products at the Namibia Craft Centre in the Old Breweries Complex, accessible from Garten and Tal streets, Windhoek, or contact the Omba Arts Trust at +264 61 24 2799.
