Yesterday the Ministry of Environment and Tourism issued a statement in which it sent out a call to all Namibians to show delegates attending the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) the best Namibia has to offer.

More than 650 delegates, representing over 60 countries, are currently on a variety of tours spread throughout Namibia, experiencing their pre-summit adventures.

The Ministry stated that it should be Namibia’s united goal for delegates to “take home beautiful memories about what they have experienced, tasted and seen here in our country. They must be inspired to invest and promote destination Namibia”.

Minister Uahekua Herunga said “This summit represents an opportunity for all of us to become more competitive in everything that we do in our country. tourism is the most competitive industry in the world and I know we can compete on a global scale, so now let’s show the world”.

The Ministry urges all Namibians to

  • welcome the delegates with our warm hospitality
  • work together to ensure their safety and security
  • remember that tourism is everyone’s business

Afterall, tourism has the potential to transform lives for the better, to generate development and new job opportunities.
