There’s no question about it: Namibia is filled to the brim with fantastic destinations. Namibia Wildlife Resorts’ Naukluft Campsite to the south is one of them. It’s easy to get to from Windhoek and is a fun getaway for those precious Namibian long-weekends. Take a few tips from us and make sure your stay at the Naukluft is one to remember:

  1.  Go there with friends

There’s no reason to go alone, absolutely none. Unless you want the absolute solitude that comes with being out in Namibia’s nature, far from cities and traffic and noises and people. But then, again, don’t they say that “happiness is only real when shared”? Fun times with your friends at the Naukluft, exploring, camping and chilling are a great way to make memories.

  1.   Take a hike!

Even if you aren’t a seasoned hiker, the two-kilometre path to the pools is well worth it. The crystal clear waters are a great way to cool off after the short excursion and rejuvenate you to make the way back a walk in the park. Just remember to pack sunscreen, comfy shoes and a hat.

  1.    Remember marshmallows for those late-night chats around the campfire.

It’s not just something for the kids! Pop a marshmallow onto a stick and hang it over the flames. The sticky yumminess will get you all sorts of childhood flashback feels.

  1.    Your camera is a must-have

Capture all those laugh-out-loud moments in photo form. And with most cellphones these days coming with built-in cameras, there really isn’t a reason not to take a few snaps. Besides, pics from your trip will serve as a great reminder of good times! Plus

  1.    Don’t be scared of the sounds of the night!

Pitch your tent on one of the campsites along the river and enjoy the birdsong during the day and quirky noises at night. When you hear a rustle in the reeds after dark, don’t freak out. It’s just the resident wild cat. Keep a look out for the little guy during the day, too, as catching a glimpse of these critters is a rare experience.

So, pack your bags, fill up your car and hit the road. Spend a few nights soaking up the sun, nature and all the sunset views. NWR Naukluft camp is waiting for you.
