“We envision a wonderful, vibrant place that will showcase the art and crafts, music, and theatre of previously disadvantaged Namibians,” says Michelle //Inixas, National Art & Crafts Coordinator of the Community Skills Development Foundation (COSDEF) in Swakopmund.

Watch out for the new Art & Crafts Centre opening at the beginning of July 2014, and buy yourself some funky, locally produced Namibian crafts straight from the source.

The centre (funded by the Millennium Challenge Account – Namibia) will house a COSDEF shop and gallery; training rooms; production units; incubation units; retail shops; a restaurant; small conference centre; an amphitheatre for musical and other productions; and a sculpture garden.

COSDEF has been offering creative craft courses since 2009, ranging from embroidery, textile design and leatherwork to knitting, crochet and beadwork. Contact Michelle at 064 40 6122 for further information on the centre, and visit www.cosdef.org.na to learn about the organisation’s work in the country.
