Stolen Moments Exhibition at National Archives of Namibia

Namibian heritage week

Celebrating Namibia’s music history.

An exhibition revealing some of the hidden history of music in Namibia is currently on display in the foyer of the National Archives of Namibia, as part of Namibian heritage week

The exhibition shows some of the old photographs of musicians and bands of the past that have been gathered by the Stolen Moments project.

The project is encouraging members of the public who have information or their own photographs of musical events and personalities in Namibia to contact them.

The exhibition is an interactive one with members of the public being invited to help to identify some of the performers shown in the photographs and to add their own memories of some of the old Dance Halls in the Old Location in Windhoek and the names of bands and musicians who were popular in Namibia before independence.

If you have material or memories that you would like to share with the Stolen Moments project then you should contact them on 0814004412 or make a turn at the National Archives of Namibia which is situated next to Kenya House on Robert Mugabe Avenue.

Whilst you are there you could also visit the National Library of Namibia which currently has a topical display of their literature about heritage.
